West African Resources rallies after posting stronger full-year profit
More news: Shares in West African Resources climbed in morning trade after the company posted a net profit increase of 130% to $567 for the year ended December 2025, driven by strong gold production at its newly constructed Kiaka production centre.
Shares were up 6.84% to $2.97 at 1:18pm AEDT.
West African Resources posts 130% jump in full-year profit
The news: Gold miner West African Resources has reported a net profit after tax of $567 million for 2025, up from $246 million in 2024.
The numbers: West African delivered revenue of $1.54 billion, more than double last year’s tally of $730 million.
Gold production climbed 45% year on year to 300,383 ounces. All-in sustaining cost of USD1,488 was higher than last year’s USD1,240.
The context: The result included the first five months of operation at West African’s newly constructed Kiaka gold production centre.
What they said: "WAF is positioned to further improve its revenue and operating cashflow in 2026 from a full year of production from both of our large, long-life gold production centres of Sanbrado and Kiaka,” said West African executive chairman and CEO Richard Hyde.
“We invested significantly in exploration drilling in 2025, and I look forward to releasing our updated reserves, resource and 10-year production target by the end of Q1 2026.”
