Westgold Resources production lifts 33% in December quarter

The news: Westgold Resources delivered a 33% quarter-on-quarter increase in gold production for the three months ending in December, a quarterly production record.

The numbers: Quarterly production hit a record 111,418 ounces in the three months ending in December, up from the 83,937 ounces in the preceding quarter.

In the December quarter, Westgold’s production was delivered at an all-in sustaining cost of $3,500 per ounce, when including ore purchases, up from the $2,861 per ounce in the preceding quarter. When excluding ore purchase agreements it was $2,945 per ounce, up from $2,792 per ounce.

The achieved gold price for the December quarter was $6,356 per ounce, higher than the $5,296 per ounce in the preceding quarter.

Underlying cash build effectively doubled to $365 million while closing cash, bullion and liquid investments lifted $182 million quarter on quarter to $654 million.

The FY26 production guidance range of 345 kilo ounces and 385 kilo ounces. All-in sustaining cost guidance was $2,600 per ounce and $2,900 per ounce when excluding gold price linked ore purchase agreements.

The context: The company’s increased production largely came from the Murchison project as operational improvements progressed.

Output from the Southern Gold Fields was roughly in-line with the previous month.
