The news: Logistics software company WiseTech Global has entered into an agreement to acquire customs and border management education provider Centre for Customs and Excise Studies (CCES).

CCES will remain under the leadership of its founder David Widdowson and will consolidate its online platform onto WiseTech's online learning platform 'WiseTech Academy'.

The context: Founded in Canberra in 2003, CCES is accredited by the World Customs Organisation (WCO) and has delivered training and awareness programs in more than 60 countries across Asia, Africa, the Americas, the Pacific, the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East.

The organisation has also collaborated with Charles Sturt University, focusing on bachelor level programs in border management and postgraduate degrees in customs administration.

What they said: "Together with CCES, WiseTech Academy will offer high-quality online training in customs administration and customs broking to those working in global supply chains worldwide," head of WiseTech Academy, Tudor Maxwell, said.

"This investment combines our strengths, allowing CCES’ world class training to be made available to an even wider audience."
