Woolworths restructures retail business
The news: Woolworths Group has appointed Annette Karantoni to the role of managing director of Woolworths retail, as part of a restructure of its retail business.
The context: Karantoni has been leading the group's supply chain business, Primary Connect, for over three years, having spent more than 20 years with the company.
She will lead a restructured retail arm, which will now include Woolworths' businesses Metro, Greenstock and Woolworths Food Company Retail, as well as Woolworths Supermarkets.
Meanwhile, Jeanette Fenske and Paul Harker, who have been leading Woolworths Supermarkets on an interim basis, will continue in their respective roles of director of stores and chief commercial officer, as part of Woolworths retail's leadership team, reporting to Karantoni.
Elsewhere, Sally Copland has been appointed managing director of Woolworths New Zealand, replacing Spencer Sonn. Copland has been with the group for over 18 years, holding a number of senior positions at Woolworths New Zealand including interim managing director.
