Worley wins Glenfarne contract to support Alaska LNG project
The news: Engineering services group Worley has been selected by US energy developer Glenfarne Group to provide engineering services to support the final investment decision for its Alaska LNG Pipeline.
The numbers: The pipeline forms part of Glenfarme's ambitious Alaska LNG development, which includes a proposed 1,300km natural gas pipeline, a gas treatment plant, LNG import terminal and LNG export facility.
The pipeline is set to transport enough natural gas to meet Alaska's domestic needs and supply a 20 million tonnes per year LNG export facility.
The context: Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump championed the massive infrastructure project, pushing Japan, South Korea and other countries to invest.
Glenfarne said last month that 50 firms had formally expressed interest in contracts on the project, including companies from the US, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, India and the EU.
