In the months since Australian Digital Holdings (ADH) wrote to Nine Entertainment earlier this year with a $42 million bid for its radio assets, the Australian media industry has been awash with speculation about what the company is up to.
And who is bankrolling it.
The Nine approach — which was rebuffed without a follow-up — marked the third known attempt by the conservative media upstart to acquire commercial radio and television assets, all part of a broader plan to build a rival to News Corp’s Sky News Australia in the battle for ultraconservative audiences.
ADH is led by a team including CEO Jack Bulfin, former talkback host Jason Morrison and former ABC managing director Maurice Newman. The group rose to prominence following its 2021 launch with controversial radio host Alan Jones.
Bulfin did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication, while Morrison deferred to him.
