Anthony Albanese will centralise responsibility for AI policy within his own department and has promised to strengthen suggestions for how data centres should operate to make them legally enforceable.
The prime minister will use a speech in Sydney today to put his stamp on how Australia will meet the new technological frontier.
It’s the first time Albanese has given his in-depth views on the area.
The speech also sets a marker for unions and Labor’s rank and file who are preparing for a debate at next week’s ALP national conference on how to regulate AI.
