It was barely a few minutes into the first presidential debate when Joe Biden confirmed everyone’s worst fears about his capability to perform on the public stage.
In a hoarse voice (his aides said he had a cold), Biden noticeably lost his train of thought while discussing inflation and healthcare.
“I’ve been able to do with the Covid… excuse me… with dealing with everything we have to do with… Look, we finally beat Medicare.”
When the rules were set for the CNN debate in Atlanta — including no live audience and a mute button on candidates when they weren’t speaking — some may have thought it would disadvantage Donald Trump because he wouldn’t be able to interrupt his opponent like in previous debates.
