Tesla chair Robyn Denholm was on stage at Blackbird’s Sunrise conference this morning, speaking to Sydney’s venture capital crowd about leadership and team culture, when news broke that jolted her own boardroom.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Tesla’s board had begun searching for a new chief executive — a bombshell development in Elon Musk’s tumultuous leadership of the electric vehicle maker.
Denholm is famously quiet about her relationship with Musk, refusing to critique or even comment on Tesla’s CEO in public. A passionate basketball fan, she was instead interviewing Sydney Kings coach Brian Goorjian about how he gets the most from his players. As is typical, Musk did not rate a mention at all.
The WSJ report suggested the Tesla board may be taking the rare step of pushing back on its powerful executive. But Denholm quickly put that to bed on Musk's own platform X.
