Jubilant Scottish football fans living their best lives in Boston during the FIFA World Cup. Venture capitalists, founders and investors fuming over Labor’s capital gains tax reforms, even after this week’s backdown. A mixture of awe and alarm about SpaceX’s record-breaking IPO and Elon Musk’s surging wealth, interspersed with clips from Pauline Hanson’s appearance at the National Press Club.
This is the “content” that has dominated my Instagram, LinkedIn and X feeds this week.
I am not a particularly heavy social media user. But in a week when a credible new report confirmed the growing stranglehold algorithmic platforms have over the information environment, I thought checking what had climbed to the top of my feeds felt like a worthwhile exercise.
Everyone’s feeds will be different, of course, and mine probably says as much about my own news preferences as it does about the quirks of those three platforms.
