Federal Court Judge Michael Lee will soon be ticking off an item on every golfer’s bucket list — a trip to the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.
Lee, who plays golf regularly and has a handicap in the low teens, is also packing the clubs so he can hit the links on a trip that will last three weeks.
With the Masters played from 10-13 April, it’s great timing for the judge. The case he's currently presiding over, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission's (ASIC) proceedings against current and former Star Entertainment executives and directors, will go into a seven-week recess after Monday.
After the evidence finishes in such a complex case, parties usually get time to prepare their final written submissions. That is what ASIC and Star will be doing while Lee takes his first break from work in some time ahead of the case resuming on 12 May.
