A growing party usually leans on the wisdom of its elder statesmen. Instead, One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts’ colleagues have spent this week running for cover.
“I’m not here to start carpeting Malcolm,” One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce told ABC radio yesterday.
“If you wish to have a discussion with him, I’m sure you can have him on your show.”
The recruitment of Joyce, a former deputy prime minister, was meant to signal One Nation’s evolution into a credible political force. But with leader Pauline Hanson in Europe, Joyce has been left holding the home front, dodging questions about a flurry of Roberts-related reports this week.
