It’s lucky Kyle Sandilands has the deep pockets required for what could be the next “media trial of the century” against his former employer, the Australian Radio Network (ARN).
Lawyers told Prima Facie that, even before the presenter gets to court, the dispute will have cost him about $2.5 million to $3 million in legal fees.
Still, that figure is dwarfed by what’s at stake — the $86 million left on the $100 million contract under which Sandilands was to host the breakfast program on the KIIS network with Jackie “O” Henderson until 2034.
Henderson was on the same deal, but blew it up after an on-air tiff with Sandilands on 20 February. Her lawyers wrote to ARN saying she could no longer work with “Mr Sandilands” — and ARN obliged.
