Sitting in the audience at the ICC in Sydney, it was clear Microsoft is going all out in its sales pitch for its AI-powered Copilot assistant.
The company’s chief commercial officer, Judson Althoff, flew into town to sell the tech titan’s vision as part of its ‘AI Tour’. CEOs from Commonwealth Bank and MinterEllison shared customer success stories, explaining how they use Microsoft's AI tools to detect fraud and deliver basic legal advice, respectively.
But not everyone is convinced. Salesforce founder and CEO Marc Benioff has been a vocal critic in recent months. He dismissed the “disappointing” Copilot as “Clippy 2.0,” describing it during Salesforce’s earnings call last week as merely a repackaged version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
He went even further in an appearance this week on Kara Swisher's podcast, saying Copilot had "really disappointed so many customers way more than any other Microsoft product that has ever existed".
