Two of the country’s hottest AI infrastructure companies, Firmus and Sharon AI, have made a habit of distancing themselves from each other.
Both are in the business of renting access to AI chips, or graphics processing units (GPUs), to AI developers.
Both were founded by Australians with chequered backstories. Both also have aspirations to eventually list on the ASX.
But while Firmus is building a network of purpose-built “AI factories”, Sharon AI exclusively installs and operates equipment inside existing facilities.
