Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s ‘will they, won’t they’ with US President Donald Trump came to a successful conclusion this week. But another meeting — arguably with greater implications for Australia’s economy — remains in flux.
The world’s two superpowers, the US and China, have been locked in a damaging trade war since Trump’s return to the White House.
With typical bravado, Trump declared confidence in securing a “fantastic deal” with Chinese President Xi Jinping when he travels to Asia today.
“We’ll make a deal on, I think, everything,” Trump told reporters on Thursday.
