There was one very good reason the Zac Lomax contract dispute between the Parramatta Eels and Melbourne Storm settled. The Storm was going to lose — big time.
The NRL club’s restraint of trade case against the Eels was a real long shot.
Its chair, corporate bookmaker Matt Tripp, also faced an uncomfortable time in the witness box with leading silk Arthur Moses SC.
Rugby league bosses Peter V’landys and Andrew Abdo were dragged into the mess too.
