Airtree leads $2.3m pre-seed for AI 'paradigm shift' startup Twine

The former Dovetail and Atlassian executive behind Twine says communication between product and sales teams is worse than most realise, and AI can bridge the gap.

Airtree has led a USD1.5 million ($2.3 million) pre-seed round into Twine, an AI insights startup co-founded by former Dovetail product chief Brian Swift and CrowdStrike sales manager Max Bausher.

Twine connects the people making decisions about a product’s future with those responsible for selling it. Using AI, it sifts through feedback from sales and customer service teams, generating reports for product teams that highlight which features are in demand.

Airtree partner Craig Blair said he was excited not only by Twine’s product but also by its status as an “AI-native” startup. He said that Twine is among the first wave of Australian ventures founded in the era of AI agents, where small teams can achieve what previously required dozens of employees.

“It’s just incredible how you can build companies much more efficiently using AI and AI agents to do the work humans used to do,” Blair said. “It's possible to go from an idea to concept to beta product to paying customers, with millions of lines of code, with four people.”
