Green investor Pollination looks for climate tech's hidden gems with $150m fund
Australia is replete with rising climate tech startups, but they struggle to gain access to the VC funding market. Pollination wants to plug this gap.
Ambitious green investment firm Pollination is targeting family offices and high net worth investors as it looks to raise $150 million for a new VC fund hoping to plug a funding gap for Australian climate tech startups.
The fund has already received a cornerstone investment from QIC, the Queensland government's investment vehicle, and expects to reach a first close on the fund later this year.
Head of investments Diana Callebaut said that Australian climate tech is an under-invested category, with a lot of US-based investors keen on the space but unable to find suitable investments.
“We see this as an opportunity, particularly for global investors. Investors we’re speaking to offshore are typically invested in climate tech in other jurisdictions. The local liquidity for climate tech is quite constrained.”
