Harrison.ai eyes Series C and US expansion after launching its own AI model
Harrison.ai's tech is used by a third of Australia's radiologists and in a number of UK hospitals. Now, the company has plans for the United States.
On Thursday, Harrison.ai became only the second Australian startup to unveil a proprietary foundational AI model, which it named Harrison.rad.1.
But that is not the only big move Harrison.ai co-founder Dimitry Tran is making. The startup has begun the process of raising a Series C, Tran said, while also taking a leap into the US market.
“We now have passed most of the hurdles so we are building up a team [in America],” Tran said in an interview. “I’m spending a lot of my time in the US at the moment to really drive the adoption.”
The hurdles he refers to are approvals from the FDA and Medicare. Parts of Harrison.ai’s platform, which identifies illnesses on medical scans, were cleared last year by the country’s medical regulator and received Medicare approval last month, allowing hospitals to receive rebates for using Harrison.ai’s product.
