KPMG client backlash builds as Pocock calls for whistleblower ban
More KPMG clients are reviewing their arrangements with the firm, as Greens Senator Barbara Pocock called for it to be banned from providing whistleblower hotline services.
More KPMG FairCall clients are reviewing their contracts with the accounting giant as one of the firm’s fiercest political critics called for it be banned from providing whistleblower services while an investigation into its audit leaks scandal plays out.
Newcastle Greater Mutual Group (NGM) and Police Bank both told Capital Brief they are reviewing their FairCall contracts while Western Sydney Airport signalled it could take similar steps and Marinus Link said it was monitoring the situation.
Capital Brief last week revealed the RBA was reviewing its FairCall contract with KPMG, which Michelle Bullock later confirmed in Senate estimates.
The audit leaks scandal, which has resulted in several senior departures from KPMG, centres on the firm’s failure to address whistleblower allegations that it misused confidential client information to win contracts.
