The Reserve Bank of Australia is reviewing its whistleblower hotline arrangements with KPMG as the leaks scandal enveloping the accounting giant continues to spiral.

The central bank, like many Australian corporates, uses KPMG’s FairCall whistleblower hotline service for its integrity reporting function.

A source with direct knowledge of the situation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the matter is confidential, told Capital Brief this arrangement was now being reviewed after KPMG was accused of breaching client confidentiality.

In March, Labor Senator Deborah O’Neill used a Senate speech to reveal whistleblower claims that accused KPMG of improperly accessing data from client Lendlease to help win work for audit tenders at Westpac and Dexus.
