RBA's Michele Bullock heads to China as investors eye latest inflation data

After the Reserve Bank's second 25 basis point cut for the year last week, it's about to receive the monthly scorecard on inflation.

Here’s what you need to know about the key economic data releases this week.

New numbers

The data: Monthly Consumer Price Index indicator, April 2025, Australian Bureau of Statistics

When: Wednesday 28 May 2025

What to expect: In March, the monthly inflation read was 2.4% year-on-year. The market is anticipating a fall to 2.2% for the 12 months to April. ANZ is at 2.5%. AMP is anticipating a 0.7% rise over the month, with the annual rate falling to 2.3% with the trimmed mean remaining at 2.7% and Goldman Sachs is expecting the same monthly rise but the year-ending rate at 2.4%.
