Monash IVF’s inaugural medical chief admits ‘confidence has been impacted’ as buyers circle

Monash IVF’s reputation has shifted slightly since delivering the world’s first IVF pregnancy in 1973. The ASX-listed fertility treatment provider has spent the last year grappling with the fallout of two high-profile embryo transfer errors, one of which led to a patient unknowingly giving birth to a stranger’s baby.
So bringing in a leading fertility specialist who happens to be a former patient as chief medical officer (CMO) may seem like an optically sound decision.
That’s the move the $280 million healthcare group announced on Wednesday, adding former Virtus Health medical director Fleur Cattrall to its leadership team in a new position that will see her become the single point of clinical accountability.
“This really ensures that the medical voice is transparent throughout the organisation in every decision,” Cattrall told Capital Brief in her only interview on Wednesday.
