New year, new you: A guide to the RBA's 2024 makeover
The Reserve Bank is having a makeover moment for the new year. But what does its 2024 glow up look like?
Michele Bullock used one of her final speeches of 2023 to acknowledge that this year would usher in significant change at the central bank.
“The RBA is a great institution with a long history of serving the Australian people. But as times change, we must change,” the Reserve Bank deputy governor said.
The RBA has been through a major review, which recommended significant changes that Treasurer Jim Chalmers has overwhelmingly accepted. Some changes to the economic institution will take place almost immediately, others will take longer.
New faces
Bullock became the Reserve Bank governor in September, replacing Philip Lowe. The first woman to take on the top job at the central bank was deputy governor and has spent decades at the RBA.
