OpenAI wants to 'build alongside Australia' as it signals local expansion
The AI giant has not been put off by a recent copyright decision and has indicated it hopes to further expand its presence in Australia.
One of OpenAI's most senior global executives has reaffirmed the USD500 billion ($765 billion) artificial intelligence giant's commitment to Australia, despite the Albanese government's recent decision to side with creatives over tech companies on copyright laws.
Oliver Jay, OpenAI's managing director of international operations, told Capital Brief this week the world's most valuable private technology company wants to "build alongside Australia" as the country moves quickly on artificial intelligence.
"Australia is a country with a history of early tech adoption, a world-class developer community, and a clear ambition to lift national productivity," Jay said.
"Australia’s political stability, its status as a Five Eyes nation, and its strategic position in the Indo-Pacific are all major drawcards."
