PsiQuantum appoints former Australian spy chief to its board
Nick Warner spent years as Australia's most senior intelligence official. His appointment comes after Peter Dutton called out PsiQuantum on the campaign trail.
The quantum computing startup backed by the Labor government, PsiQuantum, has appointed former spy chief Nick Warner to its Australian board in the leadup to a federal election in which it could become a political football.
Warner will join the Californian startup, which last year received $940 million from the Federal and Queensland Labor governments, as a non-executive director of its Australian operation effective immediately.
"Nick’s skills and experience will support PsiQuantum as it continues to grow operations in Australia and the Asia Pacific," PsiQuantum said in a statement, adding that he "brings extensive expertise across a wide range of fields, including international relations, global intelligence and security."
In appointing Warner, PsiQuantum is replicating moves it's made in its American homeland. Among those on its US government advisory board are Bob Sharp, previously a direction of America's geospatial intelligence agency, and former Congressman Jim Langevin.
