QuintessenceLabs inks deal with Equinix to push quantum cybersecurity global
Quantum computing promises to break today's encryption systems. QuintessenceLabs has been working on quantum-safe cybersecurity protections for nearly 20 years.
Quantum cybersecurity startup QuintessenceLabs has signed a deal with data centre giant Equinix which will form a "key element" of its attempt to expand further into the United States and Asia.
Westpac-backed QuintessenceLabs develops quantum-powered cybersecurity solutions that have traditionally required on-premise hardware. The Equinix partnership will enable QuintessenceLabs to offer its products in a SaaS-like model globally — something it has been looking to achieve for a few years.
"It expands our reach into all kinds of new markets," said QuintessenceLabs founder Vikram Sharma. "People are increasingly looking to have virtualised services, fewer and fewer want to have on-prem hardware, so it enables us to be able to service that large and rapidly growing market segment."
Sharma made these comments from Washington, D.C., where he is meeting with new and old clients, including private sector giants like JP Morgan and government bodies such as the US Department of Homeland Security.
