Who is Frank Restuccia, Finder's other founder and elusive CEO?
Australia's so-called 'crypto king' Fred Schebesta has long been known as the face of Finder. But now his little known co-founder is steering the startup beyond a period of layoffs and regulatory troubles towards an eventual IPO.
When it comes to generating publicity, few private companies in Australia punch as far above their weight as Finder.
The comparison website's team of ‘experts’ pop up on breakfast TV and talkback radio. Its frequent surveys of Australian households generate daily news items. The company has honed a publicity engine that runs day and night, bringing nearly two million visitors to its hub every month.
Yet while many would be familiar with the Finder brand and its public figurehead Fred Schebesta, often clad in black or leopard print and sporting a bleached blonde fringe, few would recognise the man actually running it these days: Frank Restuccia.
Restuccia was handed the reins after Schebesta, the self-declared ‘Crypto King’, stepped away from the limelight last year as the 2022 crypto winter set in and Finder ran into trouble with regulators over its crypto investment product.
