The news: AI engineer and founder community Build Club has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch an accelerator for Australian technical AI founders.

The numbers: The AI accelerator program will select 15 founders to build their AI startups in six weeks with credits from some of the founding partners, mentorship from venture capitalists and co-marketing.

The top five will be taken on a two-week trip to San Francisco to be immersed in the hacker ecosystem and meet top venture capitalists.

The context: The accelerator is focused on finding "one person unicorns" focused on AI.

Build Club’s founding partners include AWS, NVIDIA, Airwallex, MongoDB, Stone and Chalk and Aura Ventures.

The program participants will receive mentoring from Blackbird partner Tom Humphrey, Sell Anything founder Sean Graely and Archangel Ventures partner Rayn Ong, as well as US-based mentors and advisors.

What they said: Build Club founder Annie Liao said: “We wanted to create an accelerator for AI founders specifically, these businesses can be built in weeks not months like the traditional business”.

“We add value by helping them desrisk their go-to-market strategy with mentors and sponsors — this is a key pain point we observe with AI startups.

“We want to find undiscovered talent in universities, academia and big tech and give them the opportunity to go hardcore on their dreams.”
