DroneShield shares plunge despite profit and revenue jump

More news: Counter drone technology business DroneShield has seen its shares fall despite releasing a strong first-half earnings result. The company also flagged it had "refined" its product and technology roadmap.

DroneShield rebounds with $2.1m first-half profit as revenue jumps 210%
The news: Anti-drone technology manufacturer DroneShield has posted a $2.1 million profit for the first half of 2025, swinging from a $4.8 million loss in the previous corresponding period amid a surge in sales.
Meanwhile, DroneShield chief product and technology officer Angus Bean said the company has "refined its Product and Technology roadmap to balance near-term enhancements with sustained investment in R&D and strategic partnerships".
The numbers: DroneShield posted a 210% year-on-year increase in first-half revenue, coming in at $72.3 million. EBITDA for the first half also swung to a profit of $5.2 million after DroneShield posted a $4.9 million EBITDA loss in the previous comparable period.
The context: DroneShield also flagged it is off to a "strong start" for the second half of 2025, having generated $42.1 million in revenue in the month of July and first half August.
This includes the contributions from a $61.6 million contract received on 25 June, which is expected to be fully delivered by the end of August.
The company flagged that its secured revenue for FY2025 sits at $176.3 million, with all purchase orders received prior to November and December expected to be fully delivered.
Fixed site solutions account for 61% of revenue, compared to 19% in FY24. Subscription revenue makes up 5% of the total, but this is expected to grow.
