The news: Boss Energy's former chief executive Duncan Craib will not re-join the board of directors on 1 January, as previously advised upon his resignation in July.

The numbers: Shares in the uranium miner were up 8.3% to $1.83 at 2:10pm AEDT. Rivals Deep Yellow (+9%) and Paladin Energy (+7%) also saw big gains.

The context: Craib told the board he wishes to pursue full-time employment in the new year, rather than re-join the company in a non-executive capacity. He will continue to support Boss on a "limited basis" under a consultancy agreement until 1 January.

Craib handed over the role of CEO to former chief operating officer Matt Dusci on 1 October.
