Fortescue appoints ex-HSBC CEO Noel Quinn to board
The news: Fortescue has appointed ex-HSBC chief executive Noel Quinn as a non-executive director.
The context: Quinn began at HSBC in 1987 and stepped down as group CEO in September 2024.
At the time, Quinn said it was the right time to “get a better balance between my personal and business life. I intend to pursue a portfolio career going forward".
What they said: Fortescue executive chair Andrew Forrest said: “[Quinn’s] deep understanding of the complexities of the global financial landscape will be invaluable as Fortescue continues to diversify into new markets and grow as a green technology, energy and metals group”.
