Infratil joins ASX 200, replacing soon to be acquired Spartan Resources
The news: New Zealand-based infrastructure company Infratil will be added to the S&P/ASX 200 index prior to market open on 23 July. It will replace gold miner Spartan Resources, which will soon be acquired by Ramelius Resources.
The context: Infratil was previously added to the S&P/ASX 300 in September 2024. The infrastructure company's shares last closed at $9.88 which represents a 13% fall in the year-to-date.
Ramelius’ acquisition of Spartan is expected to be completed on 31 July subject to court approval. Spartan shareholders voted overwhelmingly in favour of the takeover on 11 July.
