Iress flags statements by alleged hacker, shares tumble
The news: Shares in Iress tumbled on the ASX as the financial services software company said it had become aware of statements made by an alleged threat actor following a hack earlier in the week.
The numbers: Iress shares were down 3.6% to $7.99 by midday AEST. On Wednesday shares fell nearly 6% to $7.95 on news of the hack, before recovering some ground.
The context: In an update to the market, Iress said that it had become aware of the actor's statements, and that they "did not align" with the investigations made by the company since the hack.
On Wednesday, Iress said a stolen credential from its third-party user space GitHub was used to gain access to client data in the production environment of its OneVue platform over the weekend.
Praemium, which acquired OneVue Platform Business from Iress earlier this year, said in an announcement to the ASX that there was currently no indication from Iress that OneVue client data had been compromised.
GitHub is a code repository platform which manages software code.
