Jim Chalmers invites tech, banking leaders to Economic Reform Roundtable
The news: Treasurer Jim Chalmers has issued a fresh round of invites to the federal government's Economic Reform Roundtable next month.
The updated guest list now includes Commonwealth Bank CEO Matt Comyn, Atlassian co-founder Scott Farquhar, ACCC chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb and current and former state treasurers Daniel Mookhey, Ben Wyatt and Andrew Fraser.
The context: Chalmers will host an economic reform roundtable between 19-21 August to help the government come up with ways to boost the country’s lagging productivity, increase economic resilience and improve budget sustainability.
The new invitations issued today were sent to:
- National Housing Supply and Affordability Council chair Sue Lloyd-Hurwitz
- Competition Review Expert Advisory Panel chair Kerry Schott
- Commonwealth Bank of Australia CEO Matt Comyn
- Tech Council of Australia chair and former Atlassian co-CEO Scott Farquhar
- IFM Investors chair Cath Bowtell
- Woodside Energy board member and former WA treasurer Ben Wyatt
- Australian Climate and Biodiversity Foundation chair Ken Henry
- Australian Retirement Trust chair and former Queensland treasurer Andrew Fraser
- Federal Independent Member for Wentworth Allegra Spender
- MLC chair and NSW treasurer Daniel Mookhey
- Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb

The new round of invitations comes after Treasury expanded the guest list last month. Chalmers said this morning that more invitations will be issued for participants to attend specific sessions as the agenda takes shape.
The Treasury is currently undertaking a public consultation process that will inform the Economic Reform Roundtable process. Submissions are due to close on 25 July.
