KMD Brands appoints Nike exec Ashley Reade as Rip Curl CEO
The news: Apparel retailer KMD Brands has appointed Nike executive Ashley Reade as chief executive of Rip Curl.
The context: Reade will join Rip Curl after serving as vice president and general manager of Nike's Asia Pacific operations for over eight years.
KMD Brands, which also owns Kathmandu and US hiking boot brand Oboz, said Reade will report to new group CEO Brent Scrimshaw, who also spent his earlier career at Nike.
What they said: "Ashley has a proven track record of fostering deep consumer connections, building world-class teams, and driving outstanding growth," said Scrimshaw.
"I'm thrilled to welcome him to KMD Brands and look forward to a partnership that will elevate Rip Curl to be the number 1 surf brand worldwide."
