The news: Customer experience software company Zendesk has announced it will acquire Australian technology firm Local Measure in a deal that values the contact centre platform at $100 million.

The numbers: Local Measure was last valued at $50 million in 2023. Zendesk was listed on the New York Stock Exchange at a $US10.2 billion ($16 billion) valuation by private equity firms Hellman & Friedman and Permira in late 2022, before it was taken private.

The context: Local Measure provides customer contact centre software solutions and has been a long-time AWS partner. The acquisition will enhance Zendesk's integration with Amazon Connect, AWS's cloud contact centre solution.

The deal aims to accelerate Zendesk's expansion into larger, more complex service environments by combining its platform with Local Measure's voice technology expertise. The transaction requires Local Measure shareholder approval and regulatory and Australian Court approvals.

What they said: "Voice is one of the most personal and powerful ways businesses connect with their customers and employees, and managing it at scale requires a solution that is both intelligent and adaptable," said Tom Eggemeier, chief executive officer of Zendesk.

"We've worked closely with Zendesk as a strategic partner, and this next step means faster deployment, lower complexity, and cloud-native innovation making Zendesk a fresh alternative to legacy Contact Center providers," said Jonathan Barouch, chief executive officer of Local Measure.
