Mineral Resources unveils new board additions as Zimi Meka exits
The news: Mineral Resources has appointed ex-NAB executive Susan Ferrier and former managing director of Xanadu Mines Colin Moorhead as independent non-executive directors, effective today.
The context: Ferrier was group executive for people and culture at NAB between 2019 and 2023. She previously spent eight years at KPMG, including as global head of people, global head of inclusion and diversity, and Australian managing partner for people and culture.
Ferrier currently serves as co-chair of Jawun, a non-profit organisation supporting economic and social development in Indigenous communities.
Moorhead was most recently executive chair and managing director of copper and gold explorer Xanadu Mines, which was sold earlier this year.
He was previously CEO of PT Merdeka Copper Gold between 2016 and 2018, after 28 years at Newcrest Mining. Moorhead is currently a non-executive director at ASX-listed miners Ramelius Resources, Aeris Resources and VHM.
Non-executive director Zimi Meka will retire from the board following the company's annual general meeting on 20 November, citing "considerable commitments" as CEO and managing director of infrastructure consulting and engineering firm Ausenco.
MinRes said the appointments form part of an "ongoing commitment to board renewal that strengthens independence, enhances governance standards and provides increased technical oversight."
The miner has been in the process of recruiting additional non-executive directors with the assistance of external advisors following an exodus of board members earlier this year.
In July, MinRes chair Malcolm Bundey told investors that he was reviewing the transition process for managing director and CEO Chris Ellison following a series of scandals late last year.
What they said: "The appointments of Susan Ferrier and Colin Moorhead mark another important step in strengthening the capability and diversity of our board as we position MinRes for its future," said Bundey.
