The news: Shares in Neuren Pharmaceuticals climbed after the company recorded a 97% rise in US net sales of its Rett syndrome drug Daybue in 2024.

The numbers: Neuren shares were up 7.5% to $14.02 at 2:15pm AEDT.

Neuren’s US partner Acadia reported full-year sales of USD348.4 million ($552.8 million), nearing the top end of its guidance range of USD340 million to USD350 million.

Fourth-quarter net sales of USD96.7 million marked a record quarter since the product launched in April 2023.

Neuren anticipates royalties of $56.2 million for 2024, up 110% from 2023, and $18.7 million for the fourth quarter, up 46% compared to the prior corresponding period.

The context: Neuren said there is "substantial potential" for further sales growth in the US, with 80% of the 5,500 to 5,800 diagnosed Rett patients yet to try Daybue.

Acadia is implementing initiatives to accelerate adoption, including optimising patient support, launching branded direct-to-consumer campaigns to showcase Daybue's benefits, and utilising different communications channels to "bring Daybue clinical data to life".

Acadia also anticipates first sales in Canada in the third quarter of 2025, pending price negotiations, and initial revenue from managed access programs in some EU countries this year.
