Origin buys 20% of industrial energy efficiency startup Climatech Zero
The news: Origin Energy has acquired a 20% stake in Climatech Zero, a provider of decarbonisation solutions to the mining, food processing and manufacturing industries.
The numbers: Founded in 2018, Climatech Zero has delivered 29 projects for industrial customers, resulting in over $4 million cost savings.
The projects have also saved 29,532t in CO2 emissions, and 37,770,224 kWh in energy use.
The context: Climatech applies digital twins, data analytics, practical engineering and financing solutions to improve energy efficiency of its industrial customers' operations.
To date it has helped companies install electric line haul trucks, heat pumps, and compressed air-as-a-service. The company licences the energy efficiency software of the Dublin-based provider Cool Planet.
