Origin Energy names Tony Lucas as new CFO

The news: Origin Energy has appointed Tony Lucas as its new chief financial officer.

The numbers: Lucas is currently the executive general manager of Origin's future energy and technology division, and has worked in a number of executive positions within the company during a 22-year stint.

The context: The appointment of Lucas comes after Origin announced the retirement of current CFO Lawrie Tremaine in February. Tremaine, who held the role for seven years after six years at Woodside, will step down from his position on 30 June but remain with the company until the end of July as part of the transition.

What they said: Origin CEO Frank Calabria said: "I am delighted to have Tony moving into the role of chief financial officer. Tony brings extensive strategy and leadership experience and deep knowledge of the energy industry and our business after over two decades at Origin."

"Since 2016, Tony has led the development of Origin's energy markets strategy and the future portfolio of energy solutions and innovation engine," he said.
