Qantas' digital and customer head leaves post months after cyber breach: reports
The news: An internal memo seen by Reuters reveals that Qantas’ chief customer and digital officer, Catriona Larritt, will step down by the end of December, months after the airline faced one of Australia's biggest cyber breaches in years.
The context: The note to staff circulated by CEO Vanessa Hudson said that Larritt is leaving the airline to “pursue external opportunities.”
Larritt has been with Qantas since 2015, taking her current role in September 2023 to manage the company’s customer experience, brand, marketing and technology.
The memo said that following Larritt's departure, corporate affairs chief Danielle Keighery will be responsible for brand and marketing, while Qantas’ risk chief Andrew Monaghan will oversee cyber security.
On 2 July, Qantas told the ASX that a “significant” proportion of personal data from up to six million customer records was stolen through a cyber incident affecting a call centre platform on 30 June.
In September, Qantas announced that Hudson and the executive management team had their short term 2024-25 bonuses slashed “in recognition of the seriousness” of the cyber incident that affected up to six million customers.
