Qantas extends schedule overhaul into Q1 FY27 on Iran war fuel costs
The news: Qantas has extended its schedule changes for a further three months to help mitigate the impact of higher fuel costs due to the conflict in the Middle East.
The context: The schedule changes, originally expected to last until mid-July, will now be extended until September.
Qantas will continue to redeploy some aircraft to operate more flights between Australia and Europe. The changes are set to provide an additional 2,000 seats to and from Europe each week.
Qantas and Jetstar have reduced capacity in other markets, including a temporary suspension of its Sydney to Bengaluru service.
The changes are expected to reduce previously planned group international capacity by two percentage points for Q1 FY27.
