The news: Embattled WiseTech founder Richard White has resigned from his role as a board member of the Tech Council of Australia (TCA), a body that represents Australia's technology industry.

The context: Wise informed the TCA on Thursday, after he stepped down from his role as chief executive at WiseTech.

White quitting the TCA and stepping down at WiseTech comes off the back of a deepening scandal over his private life.

The saga began with wellness entrepreneur Linda Rogan’s Federal Court battle against White over a bankruptcy notice he issued to her relating to a $90,000 furniture bill. Rogan had alleged White expected her to enter into a sexual relationship with him in exchange for investment in her business, but earlier this week she filed a notice of discontinuance after the two parties reached a settlement.

Since then, a raft of further allegations against White have been made in various media reports.

Though white nominally resigned as CEO, he will retain the titles of founder and founding CEO, and will transition to a 10-year contract as consultant for WiseTech. His salary is set at $1 million a year, the company disclosed to the ASX on Thursday.

What they said: “Richard White has advised the directors of TCA that he will resign from the TCA board," a Tech Council spokesperson said. "The board have accepted Richard’s resignation effective immediately."

White's resignation letter to the board read: "Further to my new role at WiseTech Global, announced this afternoon, I will need to renew my focus on WiseTech and its growth, and on my family. The TCA has always had my full support. It is an incredible positive force for tech in Australia".
