Telix Pharmaceuticals submits application for brain cancer imaging in Europe
The news: Telix Pharmaceuticals has submitted a marketing authorisation application in Europe for its glioma imaging candidate TLX101-Px.
The context: The submission is in line with the company’s aim to expand patient access to advanced brain imaging through a broad clinical label across major European markets. There are currently no widely available commercial products in Europe for glioma (brain cancer) imaging, which TLX101-Px aims to address.
In Europe, around 67,500 brain and central nervous system tumours are diagnosed each year, with gliomas accounting for about 30% of these cases and up to 80% of all malignant brain tumours.
Subject to regulatory approval, Telix said TLX101-Px has the potential to provide European patients with greater clarity in their diagnosis and treatment.
What they said: “We see a compelling opportunity in Europe to broaden access to authorised targeted radiopharmaceutical for brain cancer imaging and therapy, and as such this submission is an important milestone for Telix,” Telix Precision Medicine CEO Kevin Richardson said.
