The news: Telstra has announced a multi-year partnership with Indian IT group and Infosys, to accelerate the telco's "AI-led engineering transformation".

The context: The strategic partnership is aimed at supporting Telstra's company-wide strategy and accelerating its software engineering and IT transformation.

Infosys, which works with global clients on digital transformation projects, offers companies a set of AI-first services, known as Infosys Topaz, as well as cloud services, named Infosys Cobalt.

It said it will offer a "robust engineering backbone" to simplify Telstra's technology and introduce modern product engineering practices to improve its customer and employee experience.

In March, Telstra's product and technology group executive Kim Krogh Andersen told Capital Brief that the telco is about halfway through transitioning its entire business around artificial intelligence, saying that he thinks "AI will redefine our business".

What they said: Krogh Andersen said: "Consumers around the world have significantly increased their expectations when it comes to the seamless, digital delivery of their products and services. As we approach the tipping point of generative AI and an avalanche of digital adoption, strategic partnerships with global leaders such as Infosys are critical to support our shared ambitions for digital leadership".
