Transurban bumps Henry Byrne up to CFO
The news: Toll-road operator Transurban has promoted Henry Byrne to chief financial officer. He has been the company's group executive, Victoria and strategy, since 2020.
The context: Byrne will replace Michelle Jablko, who will take-over as chief executive and managing director after Transurban's AGM on October 19. Outgoing boss Scott Charlton has been assisting with Jablko's transition before he takes the top job at Sydney Airport later this year. Last week, the ACCC rejected Transurban's bid to buy a majority stake in Horizon Roads, the only other private toll road operator in Australia.
What they said: “As part of his new role, Henry will also retain responsibility for the Strategy function," CEO designate Jablko said in a statement.
"Henry and I are well aligned on the need to maintain a strong balance sheet to enable future growth and deliver on the company strategy.”
