Webjet Group appoints former Wesfarmers exec Nicole Sheffield as CEO

The news: Online travel agency Webjet Group has appointed former Wesfarmers executive Nicole Sheffield as its next managing director and CEO, effective 20 July.
The context: Sheffield was previously managing director of Wesfarmers’ digital, data and loyalty division OneDigital. Prior to that, she held senior executive roles at Australia Post, News Corp Australia and Seven West Media.
The appointment follows the resignation of former CEO Katrina Barry. Chief financial officer Layton Shannos has been serving as acting CEO since May.
What they said: “Nicole will lead the execution of the company’s strategy, with a focus on sustainable growth, driving operational excellence and innovation and delivering long-term value,” said Webjet’s interim chair Gary Weiss.
