It was the moment Anthony Albanese had been waiting for.
After 48 days struggling to sell an unpopular budget while watching One Nation overtake Labor in opinion polls, Albanese woke on Monday to two new surveys showing Labor was back in front.
In even better news for the prime minister, Pauline Hanson had suffered a 10-point collapse in her approval rating.
The Australian’s Newspoll and the Financial Review’s Redbridge data echoed last week’s Capital Brief/DemosAU poll, confirming the Coalition’s continuing slide and Labor’s modest recovery.
This was followed by a Roy Morgan poll on Monday night which reported a 5.5% decline in One Nation’s primary vote.
